Course Overview

This course explores the principles of data storytelling, focusing on how to use explanatory visualizations to narrate and persuade effectively. Building on foundational knowledge, students will examine the key elements of impactful charts—such as visual cues and color—and learn how to tailor visual narratives for clear communication. Through hands-on practice using Tableau and a real-world case study, students will develop dashboards and visualizations that bring data to life. The course is structured into modules that gradually introduce more advanced techniques, guiding students from basic distinctions between exploratory and explanatory visuals to creating compelling, multi-layered dashboards that support storytelling.

Structure

The course is completely self paced. It will take you approximately 20 hours to complete all four modules. Activities include, video lessons, readings, and self reflection activities. Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a certificate of completion.
